Sabean Now Available

Just saw on Twitter that Brian Sabean was let go by the Yankees.

ogc thoughts

One thing I was thinking Buster Posey would do when he was hired would be to bring Sabean back.  Instead, Evans was brought back, and Sabean stayed with the Yankees.  Apparently his contract covered more years.

Now that Sabean has been fired by the Yankees, I expect Posey to hire Sabean and bring him back into the fold, as a special advisor to Buster.  This would right the wrong when Zaidi did not use Sabean much, and drove Sabean to return to the Yankees.  That was when I started to doubt that Zaidi was the right person to lead us to a new competitive era.

As Sabean orchestrated the shift to a pitching and defense focus during the 2000’s, which led to the Giants becoming the Team of the 2010’s, he should be an invaluable resource for Posey to use, as Buster tries to build a pitching and defense focused organization.  Most Giants teams during that zenith were among the best defensive teams per advanced defensive stats back then.  And Sabean knew how to identify good relief pitchers off waivers and in trades, usually building good bullpens during that championship period.  He should be helpful in figuring out which relievers to bring in.

He also knew how to pick pitching advisors, like Pat Dobson and Dick Tidrow, so he should be able to assist Posey with adding more pitching advisors who can guide him, as well.

Make things right Buster! Rehire Sabean!!!
