Your 2015 Giants: Heston Throws a No-Hitter

Mucho grande congratulations to Chris Heston for throwing a no-hitter against the Mets, his first in the majors (and probably ever as a pro)!  It was an odd start, in that he while he had a no-hitter and didn't walk anyone, and struck out 11 batters, he also HIT 3 batters.  It was a 110 pitch complete game, the second CG of his career.

KNBR reported that it was the third no-hitter by a Giants rookie (Christy Mathewson had the first, both for the Giants and in MLB history).  And that it was the 22nd no-hitter by a Giants pitcher.  It was also the 6th no-hitter on the road, and 2nd no-hitter against the Mets (Ed "Ho-Ho" Halicki having the other no-hitter; his name will trend for a while now).  There are probably other fun facts, I'll post them in the comments as I find them.

Congrats again to Hesto Presto!  He has helped to save our rotation's loss of two key pitchers in Cain and Peavy by having a 58% DOM so far (unfortunately, also 25% DIS), which is very good (very good pitchers are above 50% DOM).  And thus helped to save the team, we would not be just half a game (pending the Bridegroom's result) out of first place in the NL West without his great pitching, the team has been 8-4 in his starts, due mainly to 7 DOM starts and the team going 6-1 in those DOM starts.

According to his report, 16th in Giants franchise history (Pavlovic is reporting 17th). I believe the right statement is that this is the 22nd rookie no-hitter in MLB history, sorry about that.

Also, forgot to report that it is the Giants fifth no-hitter in the past seven seasons.

In addition, Heston is the first pitcher in history to no-hit a team and also have multiple hit batsmen. There have been others with just one HBP.

This is the third no-hitter that Posey has caught, there was also Cain's Perfect No-hitter in 2012 and Lincecum's no-hitter in 2013.

Heston was the first Giant to throw a no-hitter in NY since Carl Hubbell in 1929.

First no-hitter of the 2015 season.

Also says it is the 17th in Giants history. OK, says that this is first no-hitter with multiple HBP since 1914, so it probably means that this was the first with no walks and multiple HBP in a no-hitter, per the statement above.

      Amazing!

  2. The 5th no-hitter in 5 years... all by HOMEGROWN Giants pitchers! I On draft day no less. I hope the new picks took notice. This is what the Giants do. They develop impact players and incredibly successful pitchers. Way to go Heston!

    1. Marshall probably did, he said he's signing for sure. I think Bickford also said that he's signing too.

Of course, the two were unable to sign with a team before, they are probably glad to join a quality team that specializes in pitching. "Blessed" said Marshall.
