Your 2014 Giants: Beat Dem Bums

I was curious how the Giants have fared since the Trades That Made the Dodgers Great (TM) , getting A-Gon, Hanley, and others, most of the bigger names they have kept, some gone already:

• July 25:  Hanley Ramirez
• July 30:  Brandon League
• July 31:  Shane Victorino
• Aug 3:  Joe Blanton
• Aug 25:  A-Gon, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Nick Punto

Since the August 25th trade that was the final stamp of the 2012 season in remaking the Dodgers, the Giants have played them in 11 series.  They have won 8 of the 11 and five in a row now, including two four game series.  The Giants are 21-14 in the 35 games played since the trade that they picked up A-Gon, kicking ass, winning 4 of 5 home series, and 4 of 6 road series.  They are 10-5 at home and 11-9 on the road, which is almost exactly what any team wanting to make the playoffs needs to do, win 2 of 3 at home and play .500 on the road.

In addition, for the three series losses, there were extenuating circumstances.  For the Oct 1 series in 2012, the Giants lost two games but were in the process of prepping for the playoffs, resting key players, particularly Posey.  For the two series in 2013, the Giants were literally not themselves, suffering injuries to over half their lineup, some DLed, some who should have been DLed, plus some in the pitching staff too.  True, they still all count, but I just wanted to note the abnormalities affecting those series, as it could have been worse for them over that period.

In any case, the Giants have dominated the Bridegrooms since they acquired A-Gon, and supposedly, the NL West pennant title, and if not for their fluke two months of dominance last season, they would not have won the NL West last season.  The good news from that is that both Sheriff Ned and Donnie Baseball got extensions, which the team would have to pay off should they finally figure out that they should be replaced, or better, decide to keep them around longer.
