Just ran across a great touching story about how the Giants players stood by one of their friends in the clubhouse, career clubhouse attendant David Loewenstein, who has been suffering from advanced Crohn's disease (and the subsequent diabetes it caused) for decades, here on Yahoo Sports. Brought a tear to my eye and made 2010 seem even sweeter than before.
Basically, he has been in and out of the hospital - but appears to be mostly in - recently, but the Giants have not fired him (many corporations would have fired long-term disabled people like him already), keeping him on salary and their health care plan, and then the players voted him a full share of the World Series pot, which is worth $317,631.29, plus he will get one of the official World Series rings as well.
He will never get well, but I can wish that he has more better days than bad days. Take care, wear the ring with pride, hopefully the players' kind and touching gesture boosts his immunity and he can start to feel relatively better, at least for a little while. All the best!
The 'minimum wage plus tips' was unnerving though.
