Giants Organizational Players of the Month: April

The Giants announce their organizational players of the month in this PR piece.

The winners are (boiled down their notes to the below):
  • Fresno: Adam Shabala. He was lauded for leading the PCL in OBP and BA, plus leading his team in runs, SLG, and SB (tied). They also noted his play at 3B, getting into seven games in April. He is 28.
  • Connecticut: Pat Misch. He was singled out for going 2-0 and not allowing an earned run in four of his five starts, plus his ERA was third in the EL. In addition, in 30 IP, he struck out 25 and only walked 7. The 7th round pick in 2003 draft, he is 24.
  • San Jose: Brian Horwitz and Nick Pereira, co-winners. Horwitz, winner of batting titles in two consecutive seasons, is sixth in the Cal League in BA and fourth in OBP and leads the team with 5 doubles, 17 RBI, and 11 walks; amazingly, he signed as a non-drafted free agent. Pereira, a 10th round pick in last year's draft, was 2nd in ERA, WHIP, and wins in the Cal League, and in 24 IP, he has struck out 23 while only walking 4. Both are 23.
  • Augusta: Sergio Romo for his 2-1, 2 saves, 1.50 ERA performance. Romo, a 28th round pick from last year, is 5th in the Sally League in EAR and 7th in WHIP and leads the team in wins and saves, and in 18 IP has struck out 18 while walking only 3 (with 14 hits and 3 runs). He is 23.

Congrats to the winners!
